The Shawshank Redemption - Stephen King This will be a review for both the movie and the book.

I've liked and enjoyed this short story. But, I couldn't force myself not comparing it with the movie and hence the 4 stars. There were much differences between the movie and the book, and while reading it, I kept thinking that it could have been better. The movie is one of the best I've ever seen, not just because of the twist at the end, but moreover because of the characters, story, and setting. The screenplay of Frank Darabont emphasized what King tried to convey in the book, and I think he deserves as much credit as King, for making the movie one of the most seen and highly regarded movies of all time. Nevertheless, It's a great story about hope, friendship, purpose and most of all perseverance.
